Today was my mom's birthday.
I was talking with Noah before bed tonight.
I said, "Ya know, today was my Mom's birthday. She would have been 62 today."
"But she died." He responded.
"Yes, she did, but I still remember that today was her birthday."
(this is the best part)
"So, she's 62 in Heaven? I bet they're having a great big party in Heaven."
(love that kid)
This simple post of love choked me up inside.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Mom.
You and Noah will have a heavenly time together someday.
Sarah this post is so precious and it made me cry. My dad passed away 15 years ago and I will forever remember his birthday. I have the same conversation with my boys when his birthday arrives, although they have never responded like Noah did. From now on we will now add in the "having a great big party in heaven!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful eternal perspective...I'm crying. Wish I could remember at 34 what he knows at six.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your loss. My Grampa died about 20 years ago, sometimes I think I still see him in the faces of old men. He taught me magic when I was a boy.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for you loss Sarah. Your little boy said it matter of factly and innocently just as adorable children do.
ReplyDeleteI'm catching up best I can with blogs. I am so happy Colorado is adopting that "Rights of Person" ammendment. I pray it passes. Kathi
